Assessor’s Office

The Tax Assessor’s Office investigates and values real and personal property subject to taxation in Gwinnett County. Our goal is to apply the property tax code fairly and to reflect goodwill, temperance, and fairness in carrying out our duties. We pledge to supoort, encourage and cooperate with the County Governing Authority, the Board of Equalization and the Tax Commissioner’s office.

The Tax Assessor’s Office consists of four sections and can be contacted by phone or email. We are here to assist you Monday-Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm. Our office is located in the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Building, 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville.

What’s New for 2012?
Save time and file your appeals easily

The Tax Assessor’s Office offers Gwinnett County property owners the Filing Made Easy webpage, a step-by-step online tool to help residents view their annual property assessment and complete appeals to dispute their assessed value.

Notice of Current Assessments mailed
The Tax Assessor’s office is issuing 2012 Notices of Current Assessments to all Gwinnett County property owners via U.S. mail. If your notice has been issued, you can also view it on the Filing Made Easy webpage. Below is the schedule for mailing the 2012 assessment notices:

April 6: Commercial and residential real property
May 18: Tangible business personal property
June 8: Marine and aircraft personal property

Filing an appeal of your assessed value expired on May 21st at 5:00pm
Disagree with your property assessment? Property owners had 45 days from the notice date to file an appeal with the Tax Assessor’s Office.

You can check the status of your appeal online on Filing Made Easy webpage.

Amended Assessment Notices
You will be able to accept or reject your appealed property value once you receive your amended notice; check back soon for more details.

Property Tax Return period expired on April 2
The deadline for filing tax returns ended April 2, 2012. Please note that filing a return does not take the place of filing an appeal.
