Board of Assessors
The Board of Assessors is a five-member body of appointed citizens of Glynn County, serving on a part-time basis, who meet on the first and third Tuesdays at 3:00p.m.in the 3rd Floor Conference Room of the Harold Pate Annex Building, unless otherwise posted. They are appointed for staggered terms of four, five, and six years by the Glynn County Board of Commissioners and operate autonomously. A Chairman and Secretary are elected on an annual basis. The Board of Assessors hires a Chief Appraiser to administer the functions of the Property Appraisal Office.

Real Estate Property Value Returns
Real Estate Property Value Returns are received in the Tax Commissioner’s office from January 1st to April 1st. You may file a property value return if you feel your appraised value is incorrect. You are required to file a property value return during return season if in the previous year your property was created as the result of a subdivision of a larger property, or an improvement (new construction) was made to your property. Please Note: If you are required to file a property value return, you must do so by April 1st . All returns must be POSTMARKED by the U.S. Postal Service no later than April 1st. No e-mail returns are accepted.

Tangible Personal Property Value Returns
Tangible Personal Property Value Returns are received in this office from January 1st to April 1st. You are responsible for reporting all taxable personal property. Failure to do so will result in penalties being assessed against you. If you own a business, airplane, or a boat and/or motor you must file a return. As a courtesy, return forms are mailed. However, failure to receive the forms from us by mail does not relieve you of the responsibility of filing the return. The forms are available for download within this site or can be requested by calling the personal property division at 912-554-7093. All returns must be POSTMARKED by the U.S. Postal Service no later than April 1st.

Assessment Notices
Assessment Notices are mailed to all property owners each year in mid-May. An opportunity to appeal is afforded and is explained in detail in the notice.
